On 25 September the second annual Music Benefit Concert gathered music students from all over Butte. There were pianists, bands, singers, ukulele players and many other musicians. It kicked off with the Star Spangled Banner presented by Chico High Choir followed by the PV Choir. Both performances were stellar. This was followed by a variety of loved performances including the PV Band which played the school fight song. The show also included a highly adorable performance, three young children, the Brashears family, playing a beautiful set of classical music. There was also a preview of the upcoming Legally Blond musical done by CTC Theater. The final performance was a highly awaited teacher band, comprising of Mr. Barber, Mr. Vought, Mr. Hemlich and Mr. Brooks.

“Overall the performances were amazing,” said Aaron Vought former PV student.

Many found it hard to pick a favorite performance of the night, but all agreed that the cutest act of them all was the classical music from the Brashears.

“I loved all the performances, but if I could pick one I would pick the one with the classical music with the little guys,” said Lucy Hall a 7th grader at Chico Jr. High.

The Music Benefit is held to establish support for music programs in school. Music has been proven to improve academics in school, namely English and Math. This makes it an important extracurricular to offer. This year the benefit was organized by two IB seniors, Gabrielle Pero and Madeline Sahagian. The night generated over $1500 for music programs in CUSD.
